CARTIER TANK NORMALE 'EXTRA PLATE'

The Cartier Tank Normale is one of the most famous Cartier models. Introduced in 1917, it was inspired by the Renault FT tank used in World War One. The design is understated but refined, and I believe one of the best Cartier has ever came up with.

The rarely seen ‘Extra Plate’ version that we have on offer here is noticeably thinner than the standard size, wearing seamlessly on the wrist. The watch is dated to the 1960s, and comes from the Paris branch, when Cartier Paris timepieces were still being produced in very low numbers, beautifully handcrafted and with an attention to detail that makes them highly sought after by collectors. The condition is excellent, with an 18k yellow gold case stamped with the French eagle head and ‘EJ’ Edmond Jaeger hallmarks, that are also showing on the deployment clasp. The dial retains all the charm you would expect from a 1960s Cartier, with its distinctive textured print, and remains in fantastic condition.
